dou·la /ˌdo͞olə/: a trained professional providing continuous emotional and physical support to a birthing person
A birth is more than a life entering this world. It is the beginning of the foundation from which this family will forever come from. We believe that your birth, how you feel, and what happens before, during and after matters.
I strive to make the process of working with a doula as easy and seamless as possible. Based on your preferences, location, due date, planned birth location for birth services or level of support for postpartum services, we are here every step of the way.
“Let choice whisper in your ear and love murmur in your heart. Be ready. Here comes life.” — Maya Angelou
Kara /CAR-uh/: a friend
Hi, I’m Kara (she/her). Birth and postpartum doula, mother of two, babywearing enthusiast, perpetual student, avid hiker, and amateur gardener.
There is nothing else quite like birth. I am here to support your choices in birth, judgment-free. I will walk with you on your journey providing information, a sense of calm, a listening ear, and gentle touch.
I was drawn into birth work after the births of my two children. The doulas who stayed by my side throughout the births of my two children and in the following days had an immense impact on my family’s experience. It was care that all birthing people deserve. Respectful, genuine, informative care.
I earned a BA in Anthropology before completing a post-baccalaureate pre-med program. I worked in veterinary medicine until the birth of my first child. Always amazed by the human (and other animals’) bodies…While pregnant, I became baby and birth enthralled.
